On July 25 2020, the popular column “Let’s Talk” on CCTV1 broadcasted a content about 3D printing. Professor Wang Huaming was the guest speaker and shared a variety of technologies in 3D printing and the application cases. This includes a case of “3D printed crested ibis fake beak”.

The technical support of “3D printed crested ibis prosthetic beak” case is given by IEMAI 3D, using PEEK polyetheretherketone high-performance polymer material for the fake beak and printed using high temperature 3D printer MAGIC-HT-PRO. From data simulation, digital modeling, to 3D printing and finally prototype verification, IEMAI finally complete the production of the fake break. At last, the implant operation is completed by the in charge of the Crested Ibis Breeding Center of Muchuan County and a professional orthopedic surgeon. Currently, the Crested Ibis “Maibao” has recovered its daily functions such as autonomous feeding and grooming of feathers.

“Maibao” is the name given by IEMAI when it was adopted which means the baby of IEMAI.
