IEMAI 3D Printed PEI 9085

Ultem (Polyetherimide PEI) is an engineering thermoplastic with excellent mechanical attributes and outstanding heat, flame, and chemical resistance. It is flame resistant and can be used in high-performance applications.

Ultem’s weatherability and resistance to UV radiation are two outstanding qualities.
Due to its high tensile strength, high flexural modulus, and high deflection temperature (200°C at 264 psi), this resin is exceptionally good at maintaining its original mechanical qualities even at high temperatures.

Using ultem has several disadvantages

  • It only works for very demanding applications and is very pricey.
  • Additionally, it must be dried out before processing, which takes a lot of time.
  • Additionally, because of its low colorability, your color options are limited.
  • Finally, polar chlorinated solvents can damage ultem resin, which might result in stress cracking.
