The first affiliated hospital of kunming medical university is a large comprehensive hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research and cadre health care. Founded in 1941, the hospital was originally "affiliated hospital of school of medicine of national yunnan university" (namely, yunda hospital). Currently, the number of beds in the hospital is 4000 (including 1000 in chenggong), and there are 57 clinical and medical departments. There are 5 state-level key specialties, 24 provincial-level clinical key specialties, 16 provincial-level quality control centers, 30 internal research institutions (8 institutes), and a medical strategy alliance with 217 state (city) and county level hospitals in yunnan province.
On July 3, 2018, the director of thoracic surgery of the first affiliated hospital of kunming medical university, the team of applied head of the department of thoracic surgery, used a high-temperature 3D printer magic-ht-l to perform a 3D printed clavicle replacement operation. According to verification, this is the first time that PEEK prosthesis is used to replace clavicle in the world. At the same time, the surgery solved the complex problems of multiple lesions in patients, including multiple surgeries such as vascular replacement, tumor resection, and clavicular replacement.
The 3D printed PEEK implant has the advantages of individualization, precision, and close proximity to autologous bone. The treatment process of cancer patients in the later stage will not have the obstacle of metal materials, and will not affect the patients' exposure to CT and nuclear magnetic resonance, which is conducive to the treatment of patients in the later stage of chemotherapy.
PEEK material was first used in the surgery. After joint design by doctors and engineers and repeated study and modification of the computer design model, the final stereotype guide plate and clavicle model was finalized after repeated modification and demonstration.
The patient was 57 years old and male. The cancer cells spread to the venous vessels near the right subclavian bone, invading the first rib, and cutting off the clavicle before performing the subclavian vein resection. If the traditional method is used, simply fixation with titanium mesh after cutting off the clavicle will affect the patient's later treatment. After two weeks of careful preparation, the patient underwent partial resection of the right collarbone, partial resection of the right first rib, subclavian vein resection, artificial vascular replacement, right upper lung cancer resection of the mediastinal lymph node dissection, 3D printing and artificial clavicular replacement under general anesthesia on July 3. The excision was complete, the preoperative physical condition was good, the process was smooth, the results were accurate, and the postoperative recovery was good.
